Responsibilities :
1. Overseeing the day to day operation of the restaurant including cleaning, floor plan lay-out, table settings and theme of the restaurant. 2. Hiring, training, supervising, promoting and firing of staff. Since good quality service is important managers strive to hire excellent staff. 3. Working with the chef or cook to determine menu plans on a daily basis, for special events or occasions or for groups or parties. 4. Purchasing all items including food, beverages, equipment and supplies. 5. Managing all accounts payable and receivable, handling payroll and hiring accountants or bookkeepers if required. 6. Meeting, greeting and getting feedback from customers.\
There are number of responsibilities for the Restaurant manager like staff management, hospitality, revenue, food sales and expenditure. A restaurant manager must ensure that the customers are satisfied and the restaurant keeps earning profits and he must be able to look into all the above said sectors.
Roles and Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of the Restaurant manger may vary and it depends on the seniority and will differ from place to place. He must ensure that the customers are served properly and there are no complaints.
It is the responsibility of the Restaurant manager to close and open the restaurant on a regular basis. He must be able to coordinate all communications between the back of the house staff and the front of the house staff.
He must be able to analyze and make food sales reports.
He must be able to study, understand and manage the profit-loss statements of the restaurant.
Before opening the restaurant for customers it is the responsibility of the Restaurant manager to arrange meeting with front-of –the –house staff like hosts and waiters. He should be able to manage the payroll for employees.
He must ensure that all supplies which are related to food and décor are there at his right place and must refill the stock if required. It is the responsibility of the Restaurant manager to ensure that the service is provided with the right speed.
Skills and Knowledge Specifications
A restaurant manager must be cal and should have cordial character.
He must ensure that all the tables are billed properly and all the money is accounted for.
He must have good manners and must have good communication skills.
He must be able to keep the customer happy and must be able to handle any unpleasant incidents at the restaurants.
He must be good in numbers.
He must be polite with customers and must be firm with the kitchen crew if needed.
